One Life at a Time: Why I'm Starting in Ghana
For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to change lives. Big dreams, I know, but that desire has always been a part of me. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized something important, you don’t have to save the whole world to change it. You can start by changing just one life.
That’s why I’m starting in Ghana.
The reality for many children in Ghana, especially when it comes to education, is tough. Not because of any fault of their own or anyone else’s, it’s simply the hand they’ve been dealt. Lack of resources, limited access to quality schools, and systemic challenges make it difficult for so many kids to dream big, let alone chase those dreams.
But what if someone believed in them? What if someone reminded them that they can do more, that their circumstances don't define their potential?
This is where I come in not as a savior, but as a supporter. A volunteer.
Ghana gives me the opportunity not only to give back, but to grow. To step outside my comfort zone. To test what I’m really capable of. And more importantly, to help these children begin to see what they’re capable of too.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by how much needs to be done in the world. But I’m learning that the most powerful change often starts small. One classroom. One child. One act of kindness.
So, I may not be able to change the whole world at once, but if I can help even one child see their own strength, I'llcount myself successful.
