A planning strategy involving the application of appropriate community based planning models is urgently required in South Africa in order to begin to harness social cohesion, service delivery and validation of communities' power to change the narrative.  We are currently facing the danger of  regression in socio-economic development due to many factors including political strife and polirization. This initiative is aimed exposing South Africas to the Asset Based Community Development practice (abcd) in order to bring it back to the country for application as a local development mobilization and planning tool.  Some local municipalities are already keen on engaging in abcd related initiatives.
An international master class and  festival invloving world renowned experts in abcd has been organised to take place the Dona Paula, Goa, India on 14 to 20 January 2017.  For me, this effort will also be used to empower unemployed local youth with planning skills and reconginse them as valuable assets in their depressed communities.
