My Travel Story

Hello!

I reserved my spot for a 2 week volunteering program where I get the opportunity to help local communities teach kids English.

Volunteering with kids abroad has been on my to-do list since the day I realized I had something to offer. Growing up in America, I never realized how important my English was, because everyone knew it, but once I moved to Israel, I started to see the bigger picture. Learning, understanding, and speaking English makes a huge impact in people's lives when it comes to jobs, people, travel, etc. 

That being said, the education system in Nepal doesn't give everyone the same opportunities to learn English, due to a lack of resources and geographical difficulties. 

Living in Israel for the last 8 years gave me a new hobby: teaching english. 
Whether it's explaining to my friend what the phrase, "not my cup of tea" means, proofreading work emails to ensure the grammer (most of it) and spelling is good to go, or particpating in language exchange classes to practice speaking with locals, it always puts a smile on my face when I've helped someone learn.

I used to feel guilty that I was lucky enough to be born in America and have English as my native language. But instead of feeling guilty for something that was out of my control, I decided do something productive and meaningful with my "knowledge". 

So to sum up, I want to take my hobby to Nepal and spread the English love with those who could really benefit - KIDS!. In a culture so completely different from mine, I can only imagine the rewards it will bring for all parties involved :)
