Greetings, my name is Darlene Mae and I live in Philippines. I have come here today with a heartfelt purpose - to extend a helping hand to my parents and fellow farmers who have been severely affected by the destructive typhoon Goring. The farm you see before you is not just a piece of land, but rather the lifeline for our entire family. Unfortunately, this natural disaster has brought devastation upon us, causing irreparable damage to our main source of income. It pains me deeply to share that we have lost a staggering 80 percent of our precious palay crop this time around. This situation has left me torn, as I am not prepared to let go of the opportunity to further my education and secure a brighter future for myself and my family. Thus, I humbly implore you to lend a helping hand and provide assistance in any way possible. Your support could make a world of difference for me and my loved ones at this critical juncture. As women, the burden weighs even heavier upon us, as it is our responsibility to ensure that our families are fed three times a day. Moreover, the financial strain caused by the typhoon has made it impossible for us to sustain our education. I am currently on the verge of graduating, while my sister is just beginning her college journey. However, the mounting debts from necessary expenses such as fertilizers and fuels have forced our parents to make a heart-wrenching decision - we must abandon our dreams of higher education and instead focus on finding work to alleviate our financial burdens.
