Hello all, my name is Lucas Bowen! I'm 20 years old. I have graduated with an 'Associates of Arts in Business Management' and am currently studying for a 'Bachelors of Arts in International Studies. I graduate this year in 2024!

I have been studying Japanese in my own time and in University for the past 5 years and wish to take my study to the next level by attending a Japanese language school in Tokyo Japan. I would do this through a program known as GoGoNihon. In this program I would live, study, and work in Japan.

The reason I started learning Japanese was due to my interest in different cultures and history. I was learning a lot about Japanese history back in 2019 due to the pandemic, particularly the Sengoku era of Japanese history. Unfortunately I found that many of the resources were only in Japanese! As such I started to learn the language so I could learn more. Due to this I fell in Love with the country’s language, culture, and history much more than I have with any other. I learned so many new things in my time of self study and this led to me to learn the language more rigorously through my time in university.

This program would start in April 2025 and end in April 2027. In this two year time I will study the language with all of my time and effort so that I may acquire the highest level of fluency. I would like to achieve this level of fluency so that I may find a full time job and achieve my dream of living and working in Japan.

What better way to study a language than immersing oneself in the homeland of that language, experiencing the culture, being supported by others studying the language, and making friends who have native fluency.

Allow me to outline the program's recommended timeline leading up to leaving, for this program, for you.
12-6 months - Research options for schools and living accommodation.
7-5 months - Send documents and reserve my spot in the chosen language school.
4 months - Start reviewing my Japanese language skills (I will be studying prior to this, as I don't plan to stop studying after graduation)
3-1 months - Pay tuition fees for my chosen school and book flights.
2 months - Look at and book living accommodation.
1 month - Receive certificate of eligibility (COE) and submit it to the Japanese Embassy and receive the Japanese Student VISA
3-2 weeks - Pack and Prepare for the trip to Japan

I need approximately  5,618,000 Yen, the equivalent to 37,000 USD for the whole study time of two years. despite listing all exspenses, I am only asking for a small portion of this amount from you all as I am currently working hard in part time positions to make up the difference. Alongside this I plan to get part time work while in Japan as well to support myself while I study.
