My Travel Story

I’m 20 years old, a stay at home mom of two kids, and I feel like most of my life has been on hold. I fell in love at a very young age, had children young, and have spent all my days caring for them. My boyfriend is an amazing father, but I’ve realized I need a piece of myself that isn’t just about motherhood or being in a relationship a part of my life that’s mine. I was born in West Africa and came to the U.S. as a baby in October 2005. I’ve only ever been to North Carolina, where my family first settled as political refugees, and now Georgia. Because I’ve been a permanent resident, I’ve never been able to travel outside the country, and I haven’t even had a passport yet. (Coming soon though) This California trip would be my first real chance to experience life beyond what I’ve always known. I want to see new places, breathe new air, and reclaim a small piece of the youth I never got to enjoy. I’ve battled postpartum depression, and though I love my life and my kids, I feel like I’ve missed out on living for myself. I haven’t told my boyfriend about this trip. Usually, he would pay, but this time I’m trying to make it happen on my own  a step toward independence and finally putting myself first. This isn’t just a vacation. It’s healing. Freedom. A chance to feel alive in a way I’ve never been able to. Every contribution, big or small, helps me take that first step toward reclaiming the part of life that’s always felt just out of reach. I’ll share my journey, my experiences, and the joy this trip brings so you can see the impact your generosity has made. Thank you for helping me finally live a little  for myself, for my dreams, and for this once in a lifetime opportunity. ✈️
