My Travel Story
Eye care has always been more than a career for me, its a calling. I've seen firsthand how the gift of clear vision can transform a life, restore independence, and rekindle joy. This past May, I had the incredible opportunity to serve on a mission trip to Roatan, Honduras with Duke Global Ophthalmology. Our team provided eye exams, cataract and pterygium surgeries, and glasses to hundreds of people who had been lkiving with limited or no vision.
Watching a patient open their eyes after surgery and truly see again is something that never leaves you. That moment, the spark of recognition, the smile, and the tears, reminds me exactly why I do what I do.
In February 2026, I've been invitied to return to Honduras to continue this life changing work. I'm fundraising to help cover lodging and meals while I'm there, as well as to collect new and gently used eyeglass frames, both prescription and non-prescription.
This trip also requires me to use 40 hours of my own personal PTO to volunteer my time. A small act compared to the lives forever changed by the gift of sight. Your support makes this selfless mission possible and helps extend the love even farther.
