My Travel Story

Hello my name is Samantha Jones and I am 17 years old. I currently have graduated highschool and am working as a nanny for several families in Canton, Georgia.

I have been given the opportunity to travel to Thailand for three weeks. I am currently registered to travel with International Volunteer HG group and we plan to go in May. While I am there I will be volunteering at a local daycare center in their preschool classes. We will be helping teach English and will have the opportunity to spend time with the local children. I will have the opportunity to immers myself in Thai culture while learning more about their rich history.
I will be living in a local home with other volunteers, we will be taught how to shop the market, work with locals, prepare meals, and have an all around cultural experiance. 

I believe that God has given me this opportunity to travel to Thailand so that I might serve the people and share his love among them. This will be my first overseas voluntary position and I am hoping that this will be a great start to be able to serve in other countries as well. 

While I am there I also hope to be able to learn more about other cultures, become a stronger group leader as we work in groups and maybe find a new passion in life.

    I have begun my training this week which is exciting and new for me. I am also spending dedicated time in the world and pray for this trip as it is my first overseas trip. I am hoping that there will be someone in my group that will be traveling from Atlanta as well and we might be able to catch flights together. I will keep you updated as I know more. Thank everyone.
