My Travel Story

I am travelling to three different countries to experience their cultures and give to those communites in special ways. First, a trip to the islands of Seychelles will give me the opportunity to gain valuable first-hand experience and contribute to research concerning the health of the African reefs. This program's objectives fit with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals or UN SDGs. I look forward to finally experiencing what it would be like to work in marine biology/conservation as it has been a passion of mine since young!

The second trip will take me to Sri Lanka. This beautiful country has seen an increase in tourism, and my goal there will be to help build the confidence of local women through enhancing their English language skills; therefore, expanding their employment opportunities. The women who join this program are mostly from middle-class and lower-class, Muslim communities and are keen to expand their skill set. I hope to aid in breaking down gender barriers by providing these women with educational and language skills removing their barrier to education and finally, employment.

Last, but not least, I will be travelling to Hua Hin, Thailand. My time here will be split between helping in a childcare center to teaching in secondary schools. I hope to use my experience in STEM to build the children's critical thinking while teaching them English skills that will enhance their future options. I have to admit that the Thai culture is probably the one I am most excited about. Please follow me as I attempt to learn Thai!

These programs will stengthen my leadership skills, broaden my cultural knowledge, and most importantly help the communities I am staying in. I am extremely excited to embark on this adventure and would greatly appreciate your help in this!
