My Travel Story

If you are to broadly ask me what the whole international study is all about, I will be traveling to London, England, and Dublin, Ireland. The purpose is to educate people on hospice care policy in Europe compared to America. The whole trip costs $7,000 for the J-Term at Pacific Lutheran University. Now if you were to ask me deeper on what this international trip is all about, this trip is about my future endeavors. As I mentioned, I am going to learn about hospice care on a European level. But there is more to it. America has probably some of the worst hospice care not just policy-wise but also morally wise. People seem to not have enough knowledge of how to increase the QUALITY of life rather than the QUANTITY of lifespan. Sure, living longer is great and all, but not if living longer means no longer living as a human being. My great-grandmother is in a nursing home, and I would like to say she is living her best life but I cannot answer that with 100% honesty. Therefore, on a deeper level, I want to learn and understand the difference between Europe and America, and what makes European hospice policy to some degree better than America. I want to take this with me for my nursing journey, and for my future career, Thank you for your consideration
