My Travel Story

Dear Friends,

My name is Faridah Ndiaye. I am a second year student at Naropa University in the Peace Studies program, minoring in Sacred Ecology and Religious Studies. I have the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Peru and Bolivia in the upcoming Spring semester of 16’. I have always known it is my dharma to serve the world. My studies at Naropa have exposed me to the ways in which I can do this. I am currently studying ecopsychology which provides me with an integral lens to view and participate in the world, recognizing our interconnectedness with one another and Mother Earth. I am also studying Conflict Transformation focusing on mediation and restorative justice, learning about Indigenous tribes in Canada who are healing as a community  from trauma. My Religion and Mystical Experience course provides me with a lens for studying religion and spirituality from many traditions.These courses  kindle and nourish a desire to study in depth ancient wisdoms and justice. It has been a dream of mine to travel to Peru and Bolivia. The courses I will take on my trip will help me to fully understand the cultures and traditions of the Andes and Amazon, including issues around social and environmental justice: food justice, human rights, women’s rights, Indigenous people’s rights, conflict transformation in relation to race, globalization and colonialism. In traveling to Peru and Bolivia I will truly learn what it is to be a Global Citizen. I will learn with and from the people of Peru and Bolivia, being immersed in a culture and tradition different from my own.  Storytelling and honoring the joy and sorrows in life’s journey are important to me. I am looking forward to hearing  stories and sharing them on my journey to the South. I am overwhelmed in excitemnt for this journey, and the opportunity to expand my peace studies in our beautiful world!!

  • Almost There!

    Hello all,

    I'm in disbelief at how quickly the time goes by. In about 2 weeks I'll be celebrating the birthdays of my mama and my youngest brother and then I'll be off to Boulder. From Boulder I'll be flying to Miami with my dearest fellow Peace Studies major Kayla!! And then we'll be off to Peru. I really can't express enough my gratitude to everyone who is supporting me in this journey. Thank you, Thank you. 
    I'm spending my time reading in preperation and of course watching Grey's Anatomy. I am looking forward to the adventures soon to be and can't wait to share them with you loved ones.
