Help me Get to the Dominican Republic
My Travel Story
This JanTerm I have been accepted to go to the Dominican Republic. It is very important because this will help me graduate and help me for my senior project. This trip basically will help shape how the rest of my time at Whittier College. And I need some help to turn this dream into a reality. It will mean the world to me if I can get there, but the problem is that I cannot afford some of it.
Coming from a single parent home and living as an illegal immigrant for a couple of years, I never in my wildest dreams thought that I will be able to go to college let alone to be accepted to study abroad. The day I became a U.S. citizen, was one of the best days of my life because I know that more opportunities will come my way like being able to travel.
My Latina heritage is very important to me and throughout my time at Whittier, I have been studying and keeping up to date with issues occurring in Latin America. I study it because this is something that I plan on teaching about when I become a college professor. This trip will help me gain information on issues in one of the most contreversial countries in Latin America. I plan to use the information I gather to make a difference.
This is my last and final year, and I would love to end it knowing that I studied abroad. Give whatever you can and share as much as you can. Anything will help and I will really appreciate it.
