My Travel Story

Who: Hello! My name is Marife and I currently go to West Coast University. I was lucky enough to have been invited and accepted to study abroad for the summer in Oxford, England, after my OB clinical rotation, and before Pediatricts.

What: However, although my school will be paying for my room and board, 2 meals per day, and bus tickets to different hospitals, etc, in the area, they are only able to provide me with a $1000 travel stipend. However, round-trip tickets to and from England are around $1500+ :( So, my goal is to raise hopefully $300, as I need money for the plane ticket, and I will be working my butt off this summer for spending money while I am over there.

Where/When: I will be spending about 2 weeks from July 8/9, 2015 - July 25th, 2015. I will be staying in Hertford College at Oxford University in Oxford, England where I will be immersing myself in the culture and learn about the role of the nurse in a country whos healthcare system is very different from ours. I will be touring hospitals, attending nursing lectures/seminars, and doing assignments regarding global health from the nursing perspective. More information is shown in the website given below.

Why: I plan to buy the ticket as soon as possible, however, I have not yet been able to work enough to save up enough money to go, and need around $300. I do not like to ask for money so I am willing to buy souvenirs for whoever can pitch in!!!
