My Travel Story

Family, friends, travel enthusiasts, kind-hearted strangers...hello!

I need your help! I have the opportunity to go on the trip of a lifetime this coming November. Along with my good friend David, whom I traveled a great deal with during my year abroad in Italy in '08-'09, I will be venturing into several areas of the Middle East. Our travels will take us from Portland, OR across the world to Istanbul, Turkey. We will then meet with a small guided group and spend the next 11 days exploring Iran...Tehran to Shiraz. The final leg of our journey takes us to Dubai in the UAE to meet an old friend from Pakistan.

I am currently doing all I can think of to save money for this trip. Working two regular jobs, cutting out unnecessary frills and expenses in my daily life (Starbucks is long gone), selling old clothes to second-hand shops. The works. However, it will still be very tight. After already funding a trip to Peru next month with my father, my usually-full travel savings has gotten quite low. This is where you come in. If you are able to make any donation - large or small - to help fund my trip, I will be so grateful! Donations go directly into a separate account that I have created specifically for this trip, so they will not be used for anything else.

This is going to be such a magical experience! I feel incredibly blessed to travel to a relatively uncommon destination with one of my best friends, experience a culture that is very foreign yet exciting to me, meet people from around the world, and come away with memories that will be with me for the rest of my life. I can't wait to keep you all updated on my progress.
