Scottish girl volunteering in Guatemala!
My Travel Story
Since I was young I've been fascinated by languages. In my third year of highschool I began studying Spanish and it quickly became my favourite subject. I am now in my sixth year of highschool and by June I will have finished my final exams but with a few months gap between highschool and university, I decided I wanted to travel.
Being from Scotland, I didn't travel much as a child but I was still fascinated by other countries and couldn't believe that people lived such different lives to mine. Recently, I began travelling to nearby countries such as Spain and Portugal and that sparked an even more intense interest in seeing the world.
My interest in languages and desire to explore led me to discovering IVHQ and immediately I knew it was something I'd want to do. I've applied to volunteer as an English teacher in Guatemala and it's all I've been able to think about since! I can't wait to immerse myself in a culture so different from mine and I'd love to improve my Spanish skills with natives while also sharing my own knowledge of the English language to children who would greatly benefit from it.
