My Travel Story

Have you ever felt that your personal story is incomplete? That there's something missing? That there's something you don't understand? I do, every day.
 I've always been very pasionate about the Holocaust, since I was a little kid and read Anne's Frank Diary, but I never understood why. Until my mother started speaking.
 My moms last name is Jakubowicz, it is polish, and I live in Argentina. My great grandfather came in 1937 with some people from his family and town. A lot of them remained in Poland. They were jewish. And we never knew what happend to them.
 I want to know. I want to know what happend to them. Where they used to live. I want to visit my family hometown. I want to keep memory alive.
 I want to travel for two months to Poland and to visit every place related to my family and to the Holocaust. I want to live a polish life for a while. I want to spend holidays in Poland. I want to live jewish ceremonies in Poland. I want to be on January 27th in Poland, and remember the Auschwitz liberation where it happend. I want to find out everything that happend and to prevent it to happen again. I've wanted to get to my roots all my life, and I feel this is the moment.
 I'm starting a YouTube channel, where I'm uploading information about my family history, about the importance of family history and about Holocaust. Documenting the before, during, and after travel. I want you to get interested in your own history, to get to know yourself and to spread the importance of knowing where do you come from.

¿Alguna vez sentiste que tu historia personal estaba incompleta? ¿Qué faltaba algo? ¿Qué había algo que no entendías? Yo sí, todos los días.

 Siempre fui muy apasionada sobre el Holocausto, desde que era chiquita y leí el Diario de Ana Frank, pero nunca entendí por qué. Hasta que mi mamá empezó a hablar.

 Mi apellido materno es Jakubowicz, polaco y yo vivo en la Argentina. Mi bisabuelo vino en 1937 con algunos familiares y personas del pueblo. Muchos de ellos permanecieron en Polonia. La familia Jakubowicz es judía. Y nunca supimos lo que les pasó en Polonia.

 Yo quiero saber. Quiero saber qué les pasó. Dónde solían vivir. Quiero visitar el pueblo natal de mi familia. Quiero mantener viva la memoria.

 Quiero viajar por dos meses a Polonia y visitar cada lugar relacionado a mi familia y al Holocausto. Quiero vivir una vida polaca por un rato. Quiero pasar las fiestas en Polonia. Quiero vivir ceremonias judías en Polonia. Quiero estar el 27 de enero en Polonia y recordar la liberación de Auschwitz donde sucedió. Quiero descubrir todo lo que sucedió y prevenir de que suceda de nuevo. Toda mi vida quise llegar a mis raíces y siento que este es el momento.

 Estoy empezando un canal de YouTube, donde voy a subir información sobre mi historia familiar, sobre la importancia de la historia familiar y sobre el Holocausto. Documentar el antes, el durante y el después del viaje. Quiero interesarlos a ustedes en su propia historia, que lleguen a conocerse y difundir la importancia de saber de dónde venimos.

Czy kiedykolwiek czułeś, że Twoja historia jest niekompletna? Że coś w niej umknęło? Że jest tutaj coś, czego nie rozumiesz? Bo ja tak, codziennie.

Już od dzieciństwa interesowałam się Holokaustem, czytałam „Dziennik Anny Frank”, jednakże nigdy nie wiedziałam do końca dlaczego. Dopóki moja mama nie zaczęła rozmawiać.

Nazwisko mojej mamy to Jakubowicz, jest ono polskie, a ja mieszkam w Argentynie. Mój pradziadek przybył tutaj w 1937 roku wraz z kilkoma ludźmi z jego rodziny i miasta, lecz reszta została w Polsce. Byli oni Żydami, a my nigdy się nie dowidzieliśmy, co się z nimi działo.

A ja chcę wiedzieć. Chcę wiedzieć, co im się przydarzyło, gdzie mieszkali… Chcę odwiedzić moje rodzinne miasto i podtrzymać o nich pamięć.

Chcę podróżować przez dwa miesiące po Polsce i odwiedzić każde miejsce związane z moją rodziną i Holokaustem. Chcę pożyć przez chwilę polskim życiem. Chcę spędzić wakacje w Polsce i również tam celebrować żydowskie święta. Chcę być 27. stycznia w Polsce i upamiętnić wyzwolenie Auschwitz tam, gdzie to się wydarzyło. Chcę się dowiedzieć, co się stało i zapobiec tego nawróceniu. Całe życie chciałam dotrzeć do moich korzeni i teraz to czuję.

Właśnie startuję z kanałem na YouTube, gdzie załączam informacje o historii mojej rodziny, o jej wadze oraz Holokauście. Dokumentowanie przed, w trakcie i po podróży. Chciałabym, abyś zainteresował się Twoją własną historią, poznał siebie i rozpowszechnił wagę świadomości Twojego pochodzenia.
