I am a junior student, studying Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. I am planning to go to Ghana or Kenya to do a 12 weeks volunteer service as a teacher and construction worker.

I think being an engineering student, we often do not get the chance to meet the people that need help the most. Therefore, it is very important to spend time with the people in communities that need a lot of development and hear about their needs and tyr to help them as much as possible. I also think with this experience, I would learn to ensure the interest of these communities are taken into account when making decisions in companies in the future because it is these people that are hurt the most when big decisions are made around the world. This program would allow me to experience something that I have never experienced before and push myself outside my comfort zone and help the people and children in the best way I could.

The money would be used for the program and the registration fee of IVHQ, one-way airline ticket and visa fees. I will make sure to keep everyone updated and I would be more than happy to pay back the amount to the donors once I get back to university and get a part-time job.
