My Travel Story

by: Nicole Gagnon Start Date: Nov 17, 2016 - End Date: Mar 16, 2017
Last semester, after being recommended by my English professor, I began copy editing Central Connecticut State University's student-run newspaper, The Recorder. While it has contributed to many long nights, it is a job I really enjoy and am getting better at every week. Along with the experience, I've gained a few great new friends from the newspaper's staff.
When the fall semester began this year, my co-copy editor, Lorenzo, came with tales of Italy. The university had cemented a relationship with the Lorenzo de'Medici Institute, an international school in Florence, and was going begin month-long summer programs taught by CCSU professors. I was instantly excited; Italy has always been my dream study abroad destination and, as I'm not the best with languages, courses taught in English are a godsend. I had already been planning on taking summer courses to ensure that I graduate on time, but this opportunity is too perfect to let pass.
This June, I hope I'll be studying the history of journalism in Italy with some of my new friends. I'm setting aside money from every paycheck I get, but a small contribution from you could make all the difference. Every little bit will help turn this possibility into a reality. I got my passport already - help me get the chance to use it!
