My Travel Story

  • Educational/Research Trip
  • Study/Degree Abroad
With any study abroad program, it gives students to experience cultural differences, language learning, etc. For me as an international degree, the key term international stands out the most. To fulfill anything internationally, it's important to understand other countries' viewpoints and having strong communication with them. By studying abroad in a 'non-traditional' country like South Korea I'll be to do such things listed above. During this trip, I'll also be able to learn Korean which can be more beneficial to me in my future career since I already speak English, Spanish.

By studying abroad it can allow me in the future to be a bridge of connections in the global community. Doing this will allow for more countries to unite and understand each other's values as a country. My main passion for this study abroad is to show students that no matter what circumstance people are in, the dream to broaden your education is possible.

South Korea is a beautiful country with a unique culture, history and education seems to be competitive in the best way possible. From every video or picture I have seen of the country, the daily living of other foreigners shows admiration for this country. As well as the experiences gained, food, learning, and just how diverse it is. Being able to go here means I'll be able to experience a cultural change to bring back home to share my experience. Since I am a student who is part of a minority group, to me it means anything is possible with hard work and patience.
I plan to be abroad for 6 weeks and taking 2 courses and program dates are from June 25th till August 10th.  My tutition and living is a total of $5,970 and I have received a scholarship from Lenoir Rhyne University of $4,300 which leaves me to pay $1,670 as the remainder. I also plan to pay for meal, books etc on my own. The round trip flight is about $2,500 which I will be proudly be paying it with the Gilman Scholarship I have just recieved! Financial relief is what I'am seeking so I can pay my remainder tutition/housing and other expenses I will be paying.
I'm asking through Fund My Travel for donors to help fund the rest of my tutition/living expenses, anything helps and is appreciated!
Once in South Korea I will be posting my journey on Instagram (meni.explores) so everyone can watch my journey!
