My Travel Story

My goal is to serve communities in and around Cusco, Peru, for six months. My program will include volunteer ESL teaching, jungle conservation work, and helping an indigenous Andean community. For the rest of the trip, I will be learning Spanish and getting TEFL certified. I am absolutely enamored with South America, so when I found this opportunity to learn and serve in Peru, I knew I had to do everything in my power to at least try to go. I am a huge language nerd and would love to help students learn a foreign language, so teaching ESL is perfect for me. By getting my TEFL certificate, I can make a career of helping students advance their personal and professional lives through speaking English. As an anthropology major taking a gap year between community college and university, it is my passion to study indigenous cultures. Helping out around an indigenous village in the Andes would be a great opportunity for me to serve the community, as well as learn about a new culture. This opportunity will enable me to serve various communities, as well as assist me professionally to make a career out of helping people. Any support would be greatly appreciated!
