My Travel Story

I’m writing this with a heart full of hope and a determination to make things better for my family and myself. I am my father’s princess, but he lovingly calls me his “son,” recognizing the strength and resolve I bring to our family. It’s a title I carry with pride, as I strive to repay the love and sacrifices my parents have made for me.

Growing up in India, I’ve always dreamed of breaking barriers and achieving greatness. Leadership has always been my calling—a purpose that inspires me daily. Recently, I came across the opportunity to attend the prestigious HISA Leadership Program in Washington, D.C., a three-day conference that connects young visionaries with global leaders. It’s more than just an event; it’s a platform to learn, grow, and bring meaningful change to my community.

However, coming from a country where opportunities like these are rare, the financial burden of such an endeavor feels overwhelming. The total cost of attending—including airfare, visa fees, accommodation, and the program registration fee—is approximately $8,037. Despite this, I worked hard to find ways to fund my travel. Unfortunately, I faced additional challenges as the platform didn’t allow registrations from India, and I had to register under another nationality just to keep my hope alive.

Amid all this, my priorities have shifted. Life has thrown significant challenges our way. My family’s business faced setbacks due to my father’s health, leaving us with debts that weigh heavily on us. My parents have given everything to ensure my education and a better future for me. Now, it’s my turn to give back.

I’ve decided to prioritize paying off my family’s debts before chasing my personal dreams. This decision isn’t easy, but it’s one I’ve made with love and responsibility in my heart. I’ve always dreamed of giving my parents a better life—buying them a car, supporting them in ways they’ve always supported me—but for now, I want to focus on easing their burdens.
