My Travel Story

Hello!

I'm a 14 year old resolute student whole enjoys learning and gaining new knowledge! I recently found an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity to go to the University of Oxford over the summer holidays and study a subject of my choice. The thought of going to such a well reputable university for 2 whole week to study side by side to some of the brightest minds from all across the world, however when I read the price tag that came with this remarkable opportunity I was hit with sorrow. The whole summer school was worth over £3000, I applied for the scholarship to my shock I made it to stage 2, however unfortunately I didn’t progress pass this stage and was not awarded a scholarship. Even with the knock back I am still determined to accomplish this dream of mine! My single mother didn’t have enough money to send to the summer school so I decided to fundraise. I have so far fundraised £500, but this is nowhere close to what I need.

 This opportunity will open a world of new opportunities will be opened to me beyond my local area, it will introduce me to a new perspective of thinking preparing me for the world of work but also developing me as a person whilst assisting my current studies. Moreover an opportunity like this will strengthen my understanding of the world far more than I would be able to achieve independently and help me achieve high grades in my GCSEs. It will help me develop my passions and interests and will lay a good foundation for my future studies and plans. It will show that even without large sums of money you can still have boundless opportunities and a bright future. Furthermore, it will help when applying for sixth forms, colleges, universities and jobs. Most importantly it will give me the confidence, skills and support I need to not just survive but strive.

 This will also benefit my community as it will show the youth of my community that even if you don’t have tons of money you can still try your hardest to accomplish yours goals and that nothing is impossible. Likewise, being from East London, a low income and dependent area of London, will open my eyes to areas beyond my local area. I am passionate about this project because I believe going to Oxford will give me the determination and inspiration I need to excel myself and push my limits!
