A quick work trip to New York turned into a life-changing crisis.

I travel the country repairing (Large chain stores) — proud, hardworking, and always focused on supporting my family. But when we came to New York, I didn’t realize the gun laws were completely different from South Carolina. What’s legal at home is a major felony here. I was pulled over, arrested, and taken to jail before I understood what was happening.

While I was locked up, my wife — terrified, alone, and trying to get us home — wrecked the work truck we drove up in. It was totaled. My boss put up $10,000 to bond me out, and now I owe that back… but no longer have a job to pay it.

To make things worse, I had lost my wallet before the trip, so I have no ID. My wife’s license is expired. We can’t rent a car, fly, or legally drive home. We’ve spent every dollar we had just trying to keep a roof over our heads.

Tonight is our last night in a hotel. After this, it’ll be me, my wife, our dog, and everything we own — stranded in a city we don’t know, hundreds of miles from home, with no transportation and no support.

We’re exhausted, humbled, and praying for a chance to get home and start rebuilding.
