Hello! My name is Lauren Hsinyi Chien, a graphic artist/street photographer originally from Taiwan. I moved to PEI, Canada over two years ago, captivated by its natural beauty and rich cultural history. This September/October, I am hoping to do part if the island walk, a 190 km walk across PEI, from Charlottetown to Central PEI and back, to create art/ documentary inspired by this incredible journey.

Why This Project Matters

Career Impact: As an artist, immersing myself in PEI's landscapes and communities will provide unique inspiration for my work. This walk will be a transformative experience, allowing me to capture the island’s essence through photography and art. Sharing these creations will enhance my portfolio and open new opportunities in the art world.

Community Connection: Through my art and documentary, I aim to highlight the beauty and cultural richness of PEI, fostering a deeper appreciation for the island among residents and visitors alike. This project will also showcase local businesses and attractions, supporting the community and promoting tourism.

Passion and Purpose: I am deeply passionate about storytelling through visual art. This walk combines my love for exploration, creativity, and nature, making it a deeply meaningful endeavor. By documenting the journey, I hope to inspire others to pursue their passions and explore the world around them.

Chosen Destination: PEI’s stunning landscapes, vibrant communities, and historical significance make it the perfect setting for this project. The island’s charm and hospitality have already made a significant impact on my life, and I want to share its magic with a broader audience.

Personal Meaning: Having lived in downtown PEI without a car, this walk will be my first opportunity to truly explore the island in depth. It represents my connection to PEI, my adopted home, and my commitment to capturing and sharing its beauty through my art.
