Intensive Language Immersion! 1 Year at Japanese University
My Travel Story
I have studied as much as I can while in the United States. But to achieve true language immersion requires learners to spend time immersed in the target language. Because I was unable to afford college education for many years, I worked very hard to reach this point. I am just on the threshold of achieving my language goals, and a bit more effort will push me over the edge.
I have always loved stories and storytelling, and I believe in the power of connection through the stories we tell. Growing up, I read so many Japanese novels and manga, and played many games that taught me much about myself and others. Through connections with exchange students through my school life, I realized how powerful it is to connect with people from around the world. I want to develop this skill and continue to bring these stories and connections to people from wherever they are. Those stories I read gave me hope, and made me feel that there was a reason to keep going. I have always valued supporting others, and this is the way I really want to support the world.
I have always believed in helping others in whatever what that I could, and I humbly ask now for the support of those who might help me reach this final checklist goal to study at university in Japan.
While my goal is flexible, my current aim is to attend Osaka University for one year. The requirement for this is to pay my school tuition and provide evidence for 1 year of savings to pay my living expenses while there. The estimated amount needed for 1 year is minimum 100,000¥/month for 13 months (half month pre- and post- year) totalling to 1,300,000¥ for the year (approximately $9000 USD). In addition, I will need to cover my airfare to Japan (approximately $1500 - $2000 USD). Through my own aid and savings I will be able to cover my $13,000 year university tuition, and would like to ask support to make this savings a reality for my application for the year study.
Of course, I will continue to work and save to make this goal possible, though I anticipate only being able to save an additional $2000 over the next year due to cost of living and continuing current student expenses in the US. Though it will not meet my total goal, I have worked this hard so far to make it happen and I won't stop now!
