My Travel Story

Howdy, my name is Allison Aguilar and I am an International Studies/Russian double major at Texas A&M University, class of 2018 and a member of the Corps of Cadets. As a part of my degree I am required to spend 10 weeks studying in Russia. The program I have chosen is SRAS because they are one of the most affordable programs. With my trip I would like to attend a seminar in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan to immerse myself in their culture. The cost of the program is about $7,490 which EXCLUDES meals, airfare, books, and other personal expenses. I have one year left at A&M and I am required to do this study abroad in order to graduate, I don’t have the money to help alleviate all the expenses studying abroad represents which is why I had to postpone my trip until next year. It is because of this that I ask for your help. I am currently a student worker, I have applied for scholarships for my program without any luck at the moment. I would like to use my time in Russia to learn more about the culture and submerge myself more in the language in hopes to be able to become fluent in the language. Once I am done with my undergraduate degree I hope to work for a company who's emphasis is global public service.
