My Travel Story

We left the USA in 2019 just before Covid-19. We headed to wetsern Guyana in South America to research the possibility of engaging young indigenous poeple to train in traditional skills and modern day disaster response skills, in order to become the next generation of disaster responders for the Caribbean and Latin America. We got stranded overseas due being in the Rainforest, we were travelling (Dr. Anne, myself and our small dog) overland. We used some of our savings to provide 10,000 sets of protective equipment and covid-19 healthcare equipment for indigenous locals in the Amazon region, educating them of the dangers whilst alos assisting and conducting our research. We again got stranded by the longest running election in South America history, the Guyana 2020 Presidential election. We moved over the closed border, by invitation, to Northern Brazil. Hoping flights woud resume and we could find a way home. Living in the Amazon and completing our research as we waited.

Then without warning the USA based CDC made a ban on the import of USA Pets back into the States. Now without any remaining resources of our own we are stuck in Brazil with our Pet, who we wont leave, he is part of us. We are struggling on day by day basis to survive.

Over the last 93 days we have slept outside, eaten barely anything and had no assistance in our survival.
Asking strangers to help was not our intention, however being thousands of miles from home, unable to do simple things, like work or walk into the bank or publish our story, we are asking all of you. Please help us. Whether its a few dollars to help us eat each day or something towards our flights, transit costs to a country closer to home, safety for Dr. and the dog, some funds to get some accommodation. whatever you can offer, we will repay in full. 

We are from North Carolina, hard working and usually happy and full of life, always helping other people. This time its us who needs the help, desperately.
