My Travel Story

Hello everyone,
 
My name is Sharon, and I am reaching out with an exciting and heartfelt plea. I have a unique opportunity to travel to Dubai, UAE, to learn about sustainable agricultural techniques and environmental innovation. This will be my very first time leaving Africa, and it’s not just an exciting personal journey — it's a mission to help my rural home community in Ntumburi/Nkando, Meru, Kenya.
 
My village is in a semi-arid region where rainfall is scarce, and many of my people have resorted to cutting down trees to sell charcoal to make a living. This deforestation is putting our environment at risk and threatening the livelihoods of future generations. But there is hope! Dubai, a global leader in environmental solutions, offers incredible insights into water conservation, desert farming, and innovative agricultural practices — all of which could transform our community.
 
By visiting Dubai, I plan to learn from organizations like The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture and The Sustainable City. These places are at the forefront of solving problems exactly like the ones my village faces: lack of rain, soil degradation, and the need for sustainable livelihoods. I want to bring these solutions home and share them with my people, helping them not only survive but thrive.
 
The amount I am seeking will cover my economy flight ticket, visa fees, budget accommodation, travel insurance, transportation, and a few items I hope to bring back for my community. This trip is about more than just me; it’s about giving my people hope for a sustainable future. Every bit of help you provide will go toward creating real change in a rural community that desperately needs it.
 
I am truly excited about this journey and how much it can do for my village. If you feel moved to support, your contribution, big or small, will make a massive impact.
