My Travel Story

Somos una familia Venezolana que como muchas otras nos encontramos viviendo la Crisis Humanitaria en nuestro país. Desde que decidimos emigrar en Enero de este año, hemos hecho todo lo que está a nuestro alcance por lograr la meta con nuestros propios medios, vendiendo nuestras pertenencias, invirtiendo, trabajando, pero en 6 meses solo hemos logrado reunir 800 dólares, lo cual no es suficiente para cubrir nuestros boletos.
Jorge es Músico, yo (Beatriz) soy teatrera- doula, y nuestro hijo Héctor de 3 años de edad completaba esta familia, pero, sorpresa! en abril recibimos la noticia de que estamos esperando otro bebé, lo cual acelera nuestro deseo de emigrar.
Por qué? Las condiciones en las que vivimos actualmente en Venezuela nos han obligado, no tenemos acceso a muchos de los requerimientos básicos para vivir. Héctor se enfermó en Marzo, ha sido un niño muy sano desde su nacimiento y primera vez que salimos corriendo a una emergencia, descubrimos que tenía amibiasis, debido al agua mal tratada en nuestra zona, estaba muy débil, no encontrábamos el tratamiento en ninguna farmacia, era desesperante ver como nuestro hijo empeoraba rápidamente por este parasito y no podíamos ayudarlo, nuestros amigos y familia nos ayudaban a buscar el medicamento, hasta que por fin tres días después los conseguimos, Gracias a Dios Héctor respondió rápido y mejoró. En este tratamiento gastamos aproximadamente 10 sueldos mínimos, generalmente no tenemos esa cantidad de dinero pero justo en ese momento Jorge había vendido un Instrumento y habíamos guardado suficiente para comprar los pasajes por tierra hasta Brasil por lo menos, pero tuvimos que gastar todo en la enfermedad de Héctor.
En ese momento nos había tocado bien de cerca lo que viven muchos Venezolanos a diario, miles de personas mueren por falta de medicamentos y de comida, no queremos esto para nuestros hijos, queremos poder brindarles una fruta en la merienda (cosa que muchas veces no podemos) y una alimentación balanceada en lugar de lo que se consiga al día, queremos poder soñar con construir una familia y criar nuestros hijos, con una mejor calidad de vida de la que podemos brindarles acá. 
Nuestro propósito es emigrar antes de septiembre pues por el embarazo no podremos esperar más, y deseamos tener a nuestro bebe en mejores condiciones y con acceso a las cosas básicas. 
Solo queremos reunir lo suficiente para los pasajes y llegar a Chile, allá llegaremos trabajando, para lograrlo necesitamos tu ayuda, solo 10 dólares o lo que Dios ponga en tu corazón es suficiente, cada granito de arena cuenta.

Hello, we are a Venezuelan family that, as many others, is living the Humanitarian Crisis in our country. Since we decided to emigrate, in January this year, we have done everything in our power to accomplish our goal, we have sold our belongings, invested, worked hard, but in the past six months we were only able to save 800 Dollars, which is not enough to buy our plane tickets.
Jorge is a Musician, I (Beatriz) am a theater actress and a Doula, and our three year old son Héctor was the last part of our family, but, surprise! In april we got the news that we were having another baby, and this made our desire to emigrate to grow faster.
Why? We actually live in very hard conditions in Venezuela, that made us want to leave our country, we don’t have access to many of the basics things we need to live. In march Héctor got sick, he has been a very healthy boy since he was born, and it was the first time that we had to go to an emergency room, we found that he had Amibiasis, because of the poor treated water in our neighborhood, he was very sick, we couldn’t found the medicine, it was very hard to see how our son was getting worst quickly because of this parasite and we couldn’t help him, our friends and family helped us to found the medicine, finally after three days of looking for it in the whole city we found it. Thanks God Héctor got better. We spend around 10 salaries to pay for this treatment, we usually don’t have that money, but Jorge had sold an instrument and we were saving some money for the bus tickets to Brasil, as a start, but we had to spend it all in Hector’s Sickness.
In that moment we lived what many Venezuelans live every day, thousands of people die because they don’t have Access to medicine or even food, we don’t want that for our children, we want to be able to give them balanced alimentation, we want to be able to dream about building our family and rise our children with quality of life, and we are not having that here.
Our goal is to emigrate before September because of the pregnancy, we want to have our baby in better life conditions, and with Access to basics requirements as health care.
We just want to raise enough money for the plane tickets, we’ll start to work as soon as we get there, that’s why we need your help, just 10 dollars or whatever Gods puts in your heart will be enough, every dollar counts.

  • Un Cambio De Planes- Change Of Plans

    Primero que todo queremos agradecerles a todos los que han donado para que esto sea posible.
    Hace 20 dias aun estabamos pensando ir a Chile, Jorge se fue al consulado en Caracas tratando de conocer el estatus de nuestras visas, pero no nos dieron esperanzas, en vista de que el embarazo avanza decidimos explorar otras opciones y Bogotá era una de ellas, los gastos en pasaje eran mucho menores y con lo que ahorramos alli podiamos tener algo para alquilar un lugar al llegar. Asi que decidimos emprender el camino, salimos el 12 de agosto de Barcelona, en avion hasta El vigia, descansamos una noche y seguimos hasta San Cristobal y luego Cúcuta, el cruce de frontera por tierra, wow fue muy triste todo lo que vivimos y vimos de cerca en la frontera, nuestros hermanos venezolanos saliendo desesperados muchos hasta sin papeles, mucha corrupción y mucha desesperanza. Logramos cruzar despues de una experiencia bien agotadora y el 16 de agosto culminamos nuestro viaje llegando a Bogotá. Aqui estamos, estamos quedandonos en una base de Jucum mientras conseguimos una casita para alquilar. Las fotos fueron ayer cuando caminabamos por la ciudad en busca de alquiler.     First of all we want to thank to everyone who has donate to make this possible.
    Twenty days ago we were still thinking about Chile, Jorge went to the Chilean Consulate in Caracas trying to get an update about our visas, but they gave no hope, as the pregnancy is moving fordward we decide to see other options and Bogotá was one of them, the expenses in transportation were much more less than Chile and with all that saving, we could have money to rent a place to live.
    So we decide to start our journey, we got out from Barcelona (venezuela) in august 12th, we took a plane to El Vigia (Venezuela), we rested there one nigth and then we got to San cristobal and Cucuta (Colombia), we crossed the frontier by foot, wow it was so sad everything that we lived and saw with our own eyes there, our Venezuelan brothers leaving desperate our country, even without passport some of them, lots of corruption and despair. We made it after a very exahusting experience, in august 16th we finished our travel when we arrived to Bogotá. So here we are, we are staying at an Ywam base until we find some place to rent. The pictures were taken yesterday when we were walking around the city looking for a place to live. We feel gratefull with God for he has been watching over us, and with all of you for your support.
