My Travel Story

This coming June I have been given the opportunity to take part in SLV’s mental health placement in Sri Lanka which is run in partnership with Samutthana, the King’s College London Resource Centre for Trauma, Displacement and Mental Health in Sri Lanka. This organisation provides mental health support where resources for those living with mental illnesses are scarce. My placement will involve working in psychiatric facilities with service users at varying stages of their recovery, teaching English in the community and working with individuals who have additional needs.

I will be running the Sheffield Half Marathon (9th April 2017) and the Leeds Half Marathon (14th May 2017), in order to raise travel funds to support my volunteering. Donations would be greatly appreciated.

  • Smashed 'Em

    Smashed 'Em
    Last Sunday I successfully made it round Leeds Half Marathon completing the 2nd instalment of the Yorkshire Marathon Series. I was blessed again with beautiful sunny weather and a lovely run, beating my PB in a time of 1 hour 37 minutes. I am so grateful for all the support I received during the race. I would also like to say a huge huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Now just making the final arrangements in preparation to fly to Sri Lanka in early June!

    Half Finished! Sheffield Half Marathon is complete!
    After a very hot, hilly race in Sheffield today I have successfully made it halfway through the Yorkshire Marathon Series, in a time of 1 hour 45 minutes. Big thank you to all the donations received so far! Bring on Leeds!
