My Travel Story

My aunt in Gytheio and I speak often on Skype. My father and aunt are first cousins. My father died August 2022. I have family items to bring my aunt. She has expressed that she needs me to come to Gytheio this year. It's been a financially tough year, especially with my father's untimely death, which has devastated me. Greeks are people that place much weight on honor, loyalty and respect for the elders. I have a mission ahead of me to travel to Gytheio, Greece. My aunt has asked for specific items and I'm not able to mail these to her as they are valuable. She is 80 years old, I feel an urgency to get to her soon. Southern Greece is rather diffrent than the rest of the country. The Maniots live in the deep south. I am a proud Maniatissa woman, 100% Greek and feel so much pain to not be able to afford the ticket to travel. My aunt Adamantia has asked if I secured my ticket yet. I dont want to upset her and tell her I cant afford it. The last time I was there was 2019 and I stayed with aunt Adamantia . She needs help in her home and garden. I wish to help her and bring her the family items she requests. I dont use social media. I only use youtube. I have a carpentry business that has slowed down extensively this year. I build custom wood furniture, platform beds, workbenches, barn doors. Usually I would have the plane fare by now.
