My Travel Story

The eccentric self-expression that is made attainable through fashion completely absorbs and weaves the very fabric of my being. It is because of this passion; I am applying to study abroad with the London College of Fashion. With the Fashion Product Design program, I will push my creative enthusiasm and gain a dynamic set of skills dealing with garment construction and elements of fashion design.

I wish to build a future career in the art of transforming passions and ideas into tangible designs that narrate the marvel of existence. My career aspiration is to explore various job titles such as editorial stylist, couture seamstress, costume designer, creative director, and eventually head designer of my own fashion house. Over the past 3 years, I have built a diverse portfolio from taking courses at my university such as Design and Construction for Apparel 1 & 2, Fashion Illustration, Fashion and Textile Design with Computers, Textiles, Visual Merchandising, and more.

Outside of class, I have designed in my school’s annual fashion show for the past 3 years. My collection for the FACS Fashion Reimagined 2020/21 show received the Sustainability Award. This opportunity has pushed me to unexplored boundaries and urged me to think like a practicing designer; following the design process from start to finish, planning and executing the complex construction of my designs, and coordinating my garments and models in the production. I also work as a student worker at the Liberty University Theatre Department Costume Shop where I construct costumes for theatre productions, alter patterns, perform alterations and fittings, and pull fabrics and materials for shows.

 

With this opportunity to study abroad in Fall 2022 with the London College of Fashion, I hope to push my boundaries and become well-rounded in my knowledge and skills. I believe I will be a great candidate to study abroad in your Fashion Design program, as I will maximize the impact of this experience on my academic path and career development.
