My Travel Story
We’re Nate and James, and we are the proud legal guardians of two incredible boys — Zachary, who is almost 8, and little Xaviah, who is 3. Our family was brought together through love, resilience, and the determination to give these boys the life they deserve. Both Zachary and Xaviah had a difficult start in life. They were removed from their mother at very young ages, facing more change and uncertainty in their early years than any child should have to endure.
Since becoming part of our family, they’ve shown amazing courage and curiosity. They love exploring, travelling, and seeing different parts of the country — every trip, no matter how small, sparks their sense of wonder. We know that real-life experiences outside their everyday world help them grow into confident, compassionate young people.
This year has been tough for us. I (Nate) lost my job, and like many families, we’ve been navigating financial stress while focusing on providing stability and love for the boys. Through it all, we’ve dreamed of giving Zachary and Xaviah something that would not only bring them joy, but also shape their view of the world.
We have close friends in Austria who are like extended family. Visiting them would give the boys a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a new culture, build connections across the globe, and see first-hand how big and beautiful the world is. For children who have experienced loss and disruption so early in life, this kind of experience can be truly transformative — a reminder that the world is full of kindness, possibility, and adventure.
This isn’t just a holiday. It’s a step towards healing, growth, and creating positive memories that will last forever. It’s a chance for Zachary and Xaviah to step into a bigger world, to see beyond what they’ve known, and to carry those lessons into the kind of people they become.
