My Travel Story

My name is Jerome. I am forty-four years old and I am a Tanzanian living in Dar es Salaam. Since I was a little child, I have been hearing about the highest mountain in Africa, which is in Tanzania. I have always wanted to climb that mountain, which is 5400 meters high. Unfortunately, this has been an unfulfilled dream. I remember when I was in form two, I moved to a school in Moshi region. The school was called Kilimanjaro Boys. This school is located in a village called Shimbi in Rombo district. Shimbi village had good social relations with another village in Sweden. So the village had a system for exchanging teachers and students. Fortunately, in 1998, about 11 teachers came to teach various subjects. Our class was taught by a young male teacher named Thomas. The teachers had a one-month program, followed by a trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Then they left with one of our teachers and 6 students. The trip was organized by the students who were ready to climb the mountain. We involved our parents and gave a small donation. The sad thing is that this unfulfilled dream  It didn't come true again when we were in the hustle and bustle of preparing for the trip a few days before I got a fever so it seemed that I wouldn't be able to climb the mountain because climbing Mount Kilimanjaro requires you to be in good health due to the weather on the mountain and I was really weak so this unfulfilled dream is hurting me even more.
