My Travel Story

Hi there!! My name is Lauryn and I'm an 18-year-old hoping to take a gap year to travel with the Winterline Global Skills Program. It's an incredible chance to travel the world, and see places I may never go without this opportunity. It's a nine-month program that follows the same schedule as 2 traditional semesters of university; as well as earning college credit along the way. Starting off the adventure in Boston, Massachusetts to have orientation where we'll participate in team-building activities with our new travel mates, plan our journey, and hone our skills for risk management and communication. In the next phases of the trip, we will explore Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America learning skills such as Outdoor Survival, Cooking, Ocean Saftey, and Hospitality. However, I am especially excited about the Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communications, and the Leadership aspects of the training. These particular skills are so close to my heart as they'll help me further my career once I do start college (which I plan to do at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte) in the fall of 2021, as a Communications and Public Relations major. This trip would be an incredible experience for me and is something I could've only dreamt of taking since I come from a lower-class family and have never been able to afford something like this. For as long as I can remember I've been passionate about helping those less fortunate than myself and I feel like this is the best way to do so. This trip will not only better me, but hundreds of people in other countries; as well as anyone I can help along the line with my new knowledge.
