My Travel Story
A Mother's Day Journey: A Leap Towards my Mom's First Adventure Outside of the Philippines!
A quick backstory of my mom:
My mom's age is at 68 years old, and in all the years she's spent living here on earth, she hasn't gone out of the country. She's spent all her days and years working as a single mother (my dad died early back in 2008) for her sons and daughters and sending them to school each year, never failing to provide for us and not leaving anything for herself. I've seen her struggle and cry herself to sleep, and almost giving up, but as you can see in the picture, she never fails to give a beam of sunshine and smiles. Whenever I asked her if she still has some money to buy all the stuff we need, she just responds with "As long as you are happy, I am too".
One time when we sat down and when I was in elementary, she once told me: "Back when I was younger, I really dreamed of going to Singapore." she looked at me with dreamy eyes as if imagining that place and said, "I heard from my coworker the streets are clean, and the food is great". I couldn't help but tug my chest after that conversation, and I always wanted to make it come true for her.
She's gotten sickly over these past few years, and her tuberculosis is back. She also has heart problems, and her hair is slowly turning gray, and she's been going on and off the hospital. It hurts me seeing her like that but I know everyone gets older somehow. I just wasn't ready to see her older when she hasn't reached her dream yet.
In the present (and literally the gift):
It's been years since we had a talk about that dream of hers and she probably thinks I already forgot, and now I want to give her the best surprise of her life.
With your help, she will be on her way to a beautiful and possibly life changing journey. She will not just see Singapore, but also the beauty of Vietnam and Malaysia. She deserves to step foot and enjoy more than one place for all her years of hard work and sitting on a cubicle. It will give her joy, rest, and she will truly be at her happiest.
Every contribution will go to travel expenses, accommodations, transportation, and probably a camera to store all her precious memories. Thank you so much for all of your love and support.
