My Travel Story

When I aged out of foster care at 18, I had HUGE plans for my life, I wanted to travel and explore, I enrolled in school and wanted to be a social worker so I could pour into the foster care system, which I felt I had fallen in between the cracks in. Ultimately my dreams came crashing down when I discovered that I was pregnant, my boyfriend at the time picked up a left due to pressures from his family who didn't agree with him having an interracial child. I didn't know what to do buesides the next best thing. Fast forward 15 years, I am now a single mother of three amazing children, I've been able to give them so much more then I've ever had. However one thing I've not been able to do, just due to financial strain is a big family vacation. I'm wanting to raise money for a trip to bring them to Trinidad and Tobago, or Grenada. I'm a first generation American, but I have no clue about my roots, I want to gain more knowledge of where I'm from and to share this experience with my children so they're able to take pride in this, and experience first hand their roots. I'd also love to have this experience for them to hold on to. To be honest, it's hard for me to even write this or ask, since aging out I've tried my hardest to just put my head down and work for everything I have, but I am out of humility asking for this because I know I'd never be able to accomplish this feat myself, and I'm trying to get out of the way of my own pride to see if I'm capable of getting enough support to make this wild crazy unattainable dream, an actual reality.
