Building a movement of well-trained & empowered teachers!
My Travel Story
Why is this? And what part do I have to play in the solution?
Teacher training is endemicaly under-funded and teaching as a profession is undervalued by societies. This chronic problem has created a global teacher workforce which is under-trained, ineffective and disempowered.
I want to do my small part in Malaysia, in a rural area that has limited resources for teacher training. Clear evidence shows an essential link between well-prepared teachers and positive student outcomes. With my own extensive experience in evidence-based pedagogy, mentoring and training, I believe I have the skills to help provide much needed insight, skills and confidence to other teachers.
In turn, I get an incredible professional development opportunity for a career path in teacher coaching and training. I will be a part of a team of teachers and I know that I will grow as a result of working with them. I also firmly and genuinely believe that Malaysian teachers have a great deal to teach me about resilience and creativity when resources are lacking.
When I travelled to Vietnam, I fell in love with South-East Asia period. This opportunity to return to an area of the world that so deeply impacted me will be the best Christmas/birthday present you could ever give me :-)
