My Travel Story

A young college girl of 19, I had never been away from my family for more than 10 days when I decided to study abroad in New Zealand... for almost half a year. It was a big step for me, leaving my home, my siblings, my school, and my friends... but the hardest part of all was leaving my parents.  As an incredibly close family, we love each other fiercely and relentlessly, and I have a relationship with my parents that I have seen in few other families.  And now, over two months into my program, I have decided that my Dad deserves to come see me here, in the land of the Kiwis.

My Dad is one of the awesomest people I have ever known, and this huge ocean between us has ironically brought us even closer than ever before.  I miss him ridiculously, and he misses me.  He works so hard for our family, barely ever taking any time for himself, and although he has really desired to come see me for weeks, we do not have the money needed to send him. I have been on so many adventures here and have changed incredibly as a person and my passionate wish is that my Dad can come experience a glimpse of my life here and spend a week with me before we both go home for good in November 2016. It is a scary thing, coming home after spending so much time in a far away country, and having my Dad here for my last week would help ease my transition back to the States. My Dad fondly considers me to be one of the few people in his life that drags him out of the house and on crazy adventures, and it is my wish to be able to share a few of those adventures with him here.

But for that, I need your help!  Yes, you!  It costs around 1,500 US dollars for one round trip plane ticket to New Zealand as well as a bit more for food, transportation, and accomodation, not much in the grand scheme of life, and I am sure that with your help, I can afford to surprise my Dad with a plane ticket to New Zealand for the ultimate Daddy-Daughter Date!  Please please help him reach me.  We will go on marvellous adventures together, and when I reach home, I will send you all a postcard about the experience YOU made possible.
