My Travel Story

In July of 2021, I am planning to go to Vietnam to teach English as a second language to local Vietnamese schoolchildren. The ability to speak conversational English is a very valuable skill in heavily touristed areas, such as Vietnam, and I am excited to be able to share this gift as a native English speaker with the small local community of Da Nang. I am extremely passionate about teaching and working with children has always brought me so much joy and fulfilment, and one that I am currently pursuing online during the pandemic. I am speaking with local Vietnamese children weekly online and I would love to be able to meet with them face to face as it would be so rewarding to teach them in a classroom.  This trip will combine the two things in life which I am most passionate about - teaching and travel. I am a TEFL-Certified English Teacher who is moving to Vietnam in July 2021 to teach English to schoolchildren in a local Vietnamese community. I am currently working as an English tutor online but this is my only income and as it's below minimum wage, is making saving up and paying my bills really tough. It has been my dream to teach in Vietnam all of my life, and had been saving up with plans to go in July 2020 - but obviously, due to the pandemic, I had to put that on hold. Since losing my job in March 2020 I have had to use all of my savings just to survive and now I have the chance to go this year, I could really do with your help!
