My name is Daniel Edwin, I have bachelor degree in microbiology in 2016 at the university of Maiduguri, prior to that I studied medical laboratory Assistant course in 2005. I have a strong passion to study clinical microbiology to enhance my career and contribute meaningfully to the health and educational sector through continuous academic learning and research. I have passionately selected to study masters in infections and immunity because it will enhance my knowledge and skills essentially in the understanding of global infectious disease through clinical research strategies.

The United Kingdom is well known for its vast reputation in education and research, having been ranked highly among other top countries of the world. Studying in the UK will provide me with opportunities to align with strong research and innovations. UK is endowed with strong cultural heritage which will create room for me to learn new cultures and interact effectively with a community of diverse student.

It is how ever reported that Nigeria has the largest stock of human resources for health but lack professionals that will contribute to health improvement processes. Therefore, there is need for new dimensions in this field to improve effectiveness and efficiency in the health and educational sector. This has propelled me to seek master’s study to learn more and be better and be better equipped with cutting-edge academy and practical experience. The program will equip me with strong practical and advance theorical background.

The primary goal to every health professional is to work towards the prevention of diseases and to promote health life styles. Therefore, my career goal is to become a world class laboratory scientist equipped to partner with various universities, health facilities, Government agencies and research institutions to contribute in coordinating disease outbreak and develop strategies for disease monitoring and diagnosis. Part of my long-term professional goal is to leverage the master’s degree to is to obtain a PhD in medical microbiology as I will use the knowledge in the professional building by getting involved in the public health sector, improving and solving issues related to disease burdens of health care system in Nigeria.

I have a strong background as a medical laboratory technician which aligns with the program and equally fits perfectly in my plans. I am a brilliant hardworking and goal-oriented graduate. I am currently involved in training young professionals in government primary health cares and student from the surrounding tertiary institutions and this puts me in a better position to learn better and be well acclimatized with the challenges I might encounter during my studies. I have prepared to scale through these challenges by staying focused on my goals and getting connected for effective interactions to facilitate my integrations into new community.

I want to assure the committee that I will stand for excellence and I believe that my passion will contribute effective to health and education and will provide quality and effective professional service in challenging, merit driven and result oriented work environment.
