Hello World!

It's us, Leah and Connor. Good to meet you! In the spirit of adventure, education, and positive change we are embarking on a journey that will take us to the far East corners of the world, specifically to Kunming, China. As a young couple looking to do some good on this planet, we have wholly committed to the pursuit of educating youth abroad, specifically with a focus on teaching English (Which, as it happens, is in increasingly high demand worldwide)!

Teach English as a Foreign Language Certification

The question that many of you are asking is, of course, “Why China?”

Aside from the fact that we are both fascinated by Asian culture, cuisine, art, and philosophy, China has the largest job market in the WORLD for English teachers. Throughout Asia, the cost of living is relatively low, while teachers wages are high and this is especially true for China. We hope to use teaching English as a way to help the youth of this ever globalizing world create more opportunities for progress. As many of you already know, we both love and thrive off of our adventures (both big and small). From hiking the beautiful mountains of Vermont to roadtripping across the country to attend a music festival together, we are what you would call, wanderers at heart. Our move to China will allow us to follow these nomadic dreams that we have, both as individuals, and as a couple, while we are educating youth abroad. We don’t want to look back at our lives 50 years from now and say, “What if?” Instead, we want to say, “Remember when we did that...saw that… traveled there…?”

Being the seasoned international travelers we are, we’ve decided that we are ready and excited for a drastic change in culture, lifestyle, and scenery. We want to see the world, meet new people, and experience all of the joys and wonders we would never have the chance to see otherwise.

Our fundraising goal is set at $8,000 which will cover the cost of our TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) Certification, our flight to China, as well as our startup costs for our first month in our new home, until we start receiving salary payments from the school in which we become employed.

To those that decide to contribute to our journey, we both greatly thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. We wouldn't be able to do this without you all. Your contributions will be helping educate the youth of this planet.

Love,
Connor and Leah
