My motivation towards studying abroad, for community development and non-profit management in the Gambia and Senegal, is my passion to create change. I find it absolutely necessary to explore different communities and cultures in order to understand the values of others; and to learn what should be implemented and improved in my own area. Overmore, my desire for practicing my passion for the benefits of others, while learning about new cultures, and people motivates my drive to study abroad even more! My goal is to explore something new, and learn from the exposure of travel. I plan on taking my experience and investing it into my own Towson University organization on campus, Gathering All People (G.A.P). I founded G.A.P in 2018 to bridge the gap between different cultures, communities, and backgrounds. By studying abroad, I will be able to learn the necessary tools and methods of community development & non-profit management and apply them to G.A.P's goal of making a change in communities through education and service. Furthermore, I will take the knowledge gained from studying abroad and implement them in my future classrooms and elevate my own improvised community in the Baltimore area. Being one that has never traveled out of the country, I could only dream of seeing a foregin place, never did I believe that an opportunity to study abroad would be available to me. I am excited to learn about the cultural differences, and how other forms of communities operate. In addition, being away from family and friends during a life changing experience is a gateway for me to individualized and thrive in my element of the unfamiliar! I am motivated, passionate, and overjoyed at the goal of community differences and learning practice during this program. I expect to receive invaluable education that will satisfy my thirst for knowledge in how to lead change on both an international and astronomical level through excellence.
