My Travel Story

I am one of very few Jews living in a predominantly Christian town. Growing up, this has been extremely difficult. I have always felt out of place. I could not relate to my peers of different faiths at school or the children at Shul because I was not as immersed in the Jewish faith. I attended a summer program in Israel in 2019 to gain a better connection to Judaism. The trip changed my life, cliche I know! I found the connection I longed for, became apart of an amazing community, was inspired beyond belief, formed forever friendships, and discovered a deep love and strong sense of pride for my religion and culture. I desperately wish to extend my religious and spiritual journey further on a gap year program. I believe a gap year program will allow me to find my place in my religion, grow my knowledge, experience the culture, expand my passions, and ultimately discover myself. I hope to be reconnected with the amazing and beautiful Jewish community that I have limited access to.
