My Travel Story

My name is Iris, and I’m a low-income, first-generation college student who loves to learn. I’ve always been curious about the world, its cultures, and the stories different places hold. But even with that passion, I have never been out of the country. Traveling has always felt out of reach for me, something other people got to experience, not someone with my background or financial reality.
I want that to change. I want my first time leaving the country to be for something meaningful. Studying abroad in Greece would allow me to grow as a student and as a person. Greece is a place filled with history, beauty, and culture, and it connects directly to what I want to do in the future. I plan to work in media, communication, and storytelling, and this experience would help me understand the world in a deeper way than I ever could from home or in a classroom.
I love learning more than anything, but I also want to see the world with my own eyes. I want to walk through the streets, listen to the language, learn from the culture, and feel that sense of wonder that comes from being somewhere completely new. I’ve always craved that kind of experience. I want to see the beauty the world has to offer and bring those lessons back to my community, where so many of us were never told we could dream this big.
This opportunity is important to me because it represents the future I’m trying to build. It shows that I can break barriers, open new paths for myself, and experience something that will shape me forever. I’ve worked hard to get to this point, and I’m determined to make this happen.
Any support, no matter the amount, helps me take a step toward seeing the world for the first time and growing into the person I want to become. Thank you for helping me make this dream real.
