Hello! My name is Emily and I am going to be travelling to New Zealand to study local sustainability this summer. I will be staying in Auckland for half of my time there and the other half will be spent on the Coromandel Peninsula, at the Wilderland ecovillage. There, I will learn how they support the local community, education, and sustainability. This is a study abroad program, so funding will also be going to field school credits on top of the experience. I am currently studying anthropology at Grand Valley State University, focusing on local agricultural sustainability. Going on this trip will be absolutely phenomenal for me because I will be immersing myself in a different culture, learning about sustainability, and forming relationships and bonds with people I know will not be forgotten. This is a chance for me to learn about the environment, other people, and also myself. I have already taken out several loans in order to pay for my education at Grand Valley. I am seeking help now in order to have an experience that will benefit my education, and my aspirations after I graduate. Any help that I receive would help support me in my goal to embrace more sustainable practices for our planet and the community.
