Hi Everyone!

It's Loubelle here, and this is my official fundraising campaign for my volunteer trip to the Philippines coming up in April 2016! I will be volunteering as a Registered Nurse at a Rural Health Clinic with Volunteer for the Visayans, a registered non-profit, non-government organization located in Tacloban City, Philippines.

As you all know, in November 2013, the Philippines was hit by the world's largest typhoon (Typhoon Yolanda) to make landfall in recorded history, killing over 6,000 people. Many villages and cities' infrastructures were completely destroyed whilst many coastline communites were completely wiped out. One of the major cities affected by this was Tacloban located in the province of Leyte in the Visayans region. Two years later, and this area is still in its recovery state, undergoing major reconstruction with many communities remaining completely devastated.

In a few months, I will be embarking on a month long journey to provide aid and assistance as a nurse at the rural health clinics. These clinics serve as the only resource available to free healthcare for impoverished areas in and around Tacloban City. This volunteer trip means so much to me as I'll be able to utilize my skills and expertise as a nurse to give back to this community. Helping people is such a big passion of mine, and at the end of the day all I really want to do is make a difference in this world. =) Ultimately, my goal is to make this world a better place because I was here. Although I have never lived in a third world country, I have visited the Philippines enough times to know that these poverty-stricken areas are in dire need of help and assistance.

And so I hope you can help me in reaching my goal to make things a little easier for me as I prepare for this trip in the next three months! I'm really looking forward to this experience and I can't wait to share all the wonderful stories that I'll have for you all once I get back!=) Thank you for taking the time to read this!
