My Travel Story

When I was younger I only wanted to work with children and animals. I chose Childcare and have given everything I can to help the little people develop and grow over 25 plus years. I find myself now wanting to go back to my dreams but of working with animals and conservation to help and support the communities utilising my knowledge and empathetic nature for others. Africa has always been my dream destination to learn the cultures and my way to give back.
I have been accepted into International Volunteer Headquarters Program in November for 6 weeks to help with Wildlife and conservation. I will be working 5 days a week of the 6 week Program, commencing at 4am until 7pm. (There are breaks in between)My daily duties will include training and orientation for the following:

the day Orientation and bush craft training - covering animal identification and behavior, dealing with potentially dangerous game, navigation and basic bush skills • Game drives and assisting with long-term biodiversity surveys • Vegetation sampling • Camera trapping • Habitat assessments • Monitoring of rare and endangered species • Location and mapping of injured animals by vehicle patrols • Assisting with bush and pest plant clearing • Vulture nest monitoring • Road maintenance and erosion control measures • Fence line patrols • Disaster management - preparing for and helping the reserve recover from drought, flooding, storms and wildfires • Any other tasks that may arise including manual labour and general chores BIG DAYS…But very rewarding! Fees, Registrations and Flights are required to pay upfront and volunteering is free so reaching out for any support financially to get me there would be very appreciated.
