My Travel Story

In July 2020, myself and a small group of my peers from St Crispin's will be going to Guatemala for 3 weeks. The purpose of our trip is: 
  • To undertake a week of Charity work.  This could be teaching english to children, helping to build a medical clinic or working in an animal conservation centre
  • To complete a 4 day trek to either the Mayan Temples or to the top of Guatemala's highest volcano
  • To spend time meeting local people and to experience the Guatemalan culture. 
We will need to take full ownership of the expedition, including attending a number of training sessions, planning a detailed itinerary and working within a budget. The training sessions will give us the skills we need to trek safely and to know what to do if someone gets lost of injured.

I am under no illusion that this once in a lifetime experience will be challenging, both mentally and physcally, but I also know that it will develop me personally by building my confidence, becoming independent and resilent as well as working together as a team.
