WOO HOO my son and I were accepted to the Human Security and Peace Building program with approval for housing accommodations (huge accomplishments). As my final semester comes to an end and graduation in May, I couldn't think of a better way to end my undergraduate experience than to study abroad this summer. As a student-parent, studying abroad with your family is often prohibited if not discouraged by the institution. Before I leave UC Berkeley I want all student-parents to know that that they too can enjoy all the benefits of "traditional" students. I'm disheartened by the constant discrimination we feel on campus every day. I really want to share this amazing experience with my son, but I need your help with airfare expenses. I've applied for grants and scholarhsips to cover everything else. Any amount help :) thank you for continuing to believe in us! <3

I will be studying at the United Nations University for Peace "Summer Peace Institute" for 6 weeks in Costa Rica. At UPEACE, I will joing a diverse, international group of students in dialogue on current peacebuilding and human security issues throughout the world. I will also interact with human security advocates who work in areas such as environment, health, education, and conflict resolution. I will also travel into the city of San Jose for the final weeks to teach English to elementary children. It is important we become global conscious humans with respect for other cultures. I believe we are born good and hope some day we can all live together in peace.
